Avram Grant Advises Improving Water Utilization For Betterment of Global Food Resources

0

Water is an essential source of survival for every soul living on earth. Its uses are enormous and limitless. It is said that as the world progresses to 2050, the human population on earth will be more than 9 billion or approximately 10 billion. In order to feed 10 billion people, there will be a huge global responsibility which will require every nation to produce more food. It is said that in 2050 and afterwards growing more food would be a global challenge. Of course water is the basic source of producing food and hence the future challenge is the management of water resources.

Management of Water Resources

Considering this future challenge, Avram Grant, an expert in the food supply sector and others, suggests that we need to increase crop yields significantly for meeting the food supply. In order for the world to achieve this objective, it is imperative that existing water sources must ostensibly be improved through management and control. Since water resources too are scarce hence there is a genuine need of using less water sources for producing more food. So basically the world’s focus should be towards developing an infrastructure through which water resources should be managed more effectively.

Involvement of Experts

Avram Grant being a far-thinker philanthropist is certain that without the help of expert manpower existing water resources can neither be improved nor managed. He is of the view that the world needs expert hydrologists, scientists, researchers and civil engineers and preferably those which have already improvement water management systems in several African countries. In this connection, a global partnership needs to be established for the single purpose of improving water sources and managing them for doubling food production in the future.

In several African countries successful efforts through the help of experts were made which resulted in effective management of water resources there. The world can learn from them and most importantly, they are willing to share their expertise and knowledge with others who desire to make good use of them. They have significantly improved water resources there which has resulted in high productivity of healthy food resources.

Global Effort

Currently, in the field of water management, countries such as India, Russia, China and USA have been making great contributions. They have developed several research centers particularly for water management. There is a word that these countries are going to link their respective water management research centers with each other for sharing knowledge and research. In this manner, they can produce far better results in the water management. It is this kind of global effort which is required to be put in from now so that it can be benefitted in the near future.

Research and technology are the key elements through which the entire world can greatly benefit. It is through them that less water sources could be utilized for substantially increasing the yields from the crops. So the world needs to keep learning in the effort of producing more by investing wholeheartedly in the fields of technology and scientific research.

Situation of Water Globally

Apart from being used daily by humans for their own and domestic use, water is also being used for commercial purposes also. However, majority of water sources are being consumed primarily for agricultural purposes and then by humans. According to global records 70% of the water consumption is being spent on production of food. So even a small change, which could reduce the water utilization for agricultural purposes, can make a huge impactful difference. Hence, introducing water management system for the purposes of improving its productive would automatically improve the water resources and conditions throughout theworld.

End Thoughts

For Avram Grant, the world cannot think that the future, where we would need to increase food supply, is too far. It is closer than we think if the world is failed to realize that our water resources are scarce which have to be managed properly. Otherwise, there is a massive crisis awaiting ahead.
