Food Processor Chocolate Chip Cookies

I am admittedly a chocolate chip cookie snob. I really can’t help it. My dad always made the best chocolate chip cookies while I was growing up, and he continues to make them to this day. So of course, I have to use his recipe when I make cookies for my son, or for any occasion really.

Often I’m short on time and making cookies can be quite tedious when putting it all together. When I learned I could make them in my food processor, I was super excited to try it out. I took out my Cuisinart food processor and prepared to get to work.

I wanted to get a plastic dough blade for making the cookies so it would mix the way I wanted it to. I went on to KitchenWorksInc. to see what I could find. They sell Cuisinart DFP 14 parts that are actually made by Cuisinart, which is awesome. Aside from the dough blade, I also got a spatula to scrape every bit out and some new chopping blades for the future when mine inevitably started to dull.

I started off with chopping the walnuts. I typically don’t buy chopped walnuts because they’re significantly more expensive. Then I get frustrated when I’m chopping them because a lot of them fly off the cutting board as I’m cutting. This was the perfect solution, because they’re confined to the work bowl. Of course you need to transfer them to another bowl once they’re done, so you can move on to the next step.

The next part is adding all of the wet ingredients and both the granulated and brown sugar and pulsing those until they’re creamy. Then of course you add the dry ingredients and mix those together just until they’re combined. My first time I wasn’t used to it and I had a hard time being able to identify when I should stop. I eventually got the hang of it. Then you add in the chocolate chips and nuts and stir them. And finally, you spoon them on to the cookie sheet and bake them.

It’s such a time saver, which is great for me and my family. Everything is so hectic as it is. The cookies are the perfect consistency. They come out even better than if they were done by hand or even with a fancy upright mixer. Something about it just seems like it combines the ingredients better.

I told my dad how awesome these cookies turned out and how it saves time, and now he’s adopted this method as well. After all these years he never realized he could mix the dough in the food processor. It really is a game changer and I’m so thankful I found out about it. My family is certainly thankful now that they get more cookies out of me!
